Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.
The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
He rescued four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
